At Home With Natalia Swarz

Meet Natalia Swarz and Her Family

At The Archive Store, we’re inspired by spaces that tell personal stories and bring beauty and intention into everyday living. Today, we’re thrilled to share an exclusive look into the home of Natalia Swarz, a multidisciplinary creative, founder of Hôtel Weekend, and designer with a love for interiors. Join us as we explore Natalia’s thoughtfully designed Madrid home, her favorite pieces, and how she’s created a cozy, curated sanctuary for her family.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hello! I’m Natalia Swarz, a creative who wears many hats—I run Hôtel Weekend, a travel platform, and work as a designer, artist, and interior stylist. My husband Armando and I live in Madrid with our two daughters, almost three-year-old Cecilia and five-month-old Florencia. Originally from Colombia, we’ve called Madrid home for five years and absolutely love it here.

Sleep well

The Mini+ junior bed is designed to accommodate the need for a quality solution in a small children’s bedroom. With its generous measurements but small stature, the Mini+ junior bed is the perfect place to create a safe and pleasant atmosphere for the little child.

The Canopy Corner

This super cosy canopy corner in Cecilia’s room is perfect for reading!

Metal Clothes Stand

I love the clothing rack for displaying Cecilia’s prettiest outfits!

The Moon Lamp

The moon wall lamp is a favorite as well—it casts the most calming glow, making bedtime more magical.

Balancing Work and Family Life

With two young children, you must be busy! What’s life like as a creative and mother of two?

It’s definitely a balancing act! When Cecilia was born, I took a long maternity break to enjoy those early days. With Florencia, I jumped back into work almost immediately, which means I’m often juggling multiple projects alongside caring for a family of four. Together with Armando, we manage Hilma Homes, our real estate and hospitality venture where we’ve renovated two apartments for mid-to-long-term stays in Madrid. I also freelance in branding, editorial design, and communications for clients in hospitality, fashion, and wellness, and have recently started exploring interior styling projects for residential spaces. And I paint and illustrate, sometimes for clients and sometimes just for myself. It’s a lot, but I love the variety!

Natalia’s Interior Style: Minimal Meets Bohemian

How would you describe your interior style?

I’d say my style is a blend of minimalism with a touch of bohemian warmth. I strive to curate spaces that feel calm yet full of personality, making each area intentional, functional, and comfortable.

Designing for Little Ones: Ceci and Flore’s Rooms

Your daughters’ rooms are beautiful, with unique styles. Could you tell us more about your approach to their spaces?

Florencia currently sleeps in our room, so her “space” is a calming corner with a crib and a soft canopy for warmth and coziness. When she’s a little older, we plan to move her into Cecilia’s room and decorate it to reflect both of their personalities. Cecilia’s room has evolved along with her personality—from a minimalist nursery to a playful, organized space that reflects her interests. We have a gallery wall with cherished items, a drawing table, a canopy corner for reading, and her beloved dollhouse. It’s calm yet personal, perfect for a little one with so much energy.

Styling Tips for Kids’ Rooms

Do you have any styling tips for children’s spaces? Do you have any styling tips for creating a kids room?

Absolutely! Storage is key to keeping things tidy and maintaining a sense of calm. Personalization is also important—let their unique preferences, colors, and interests be part of the design. When kids feel connected to their space, it truly becomes their own little world.

Exploring Family-Friendly Madrid

For anyone visiting Madrid with kids, what are some must-visit spots?

Madrid is a fantastic city for families! Retiro Park and Parque del Oeste are two of our favorite places for a day outdoors. For a cozy meal, I love Hermanas Arce, and the Plaza de Olavide area has some great spots—Pizza Pronto for lunch, followed by browsing at Libreria Vualá for kids’ books, and a little treat from Alma Nomad Bakery
